Straight lines and a modern look are hallmarks of a platform bed. And that simplicity gives platform beds an unrivaled versatility. They seem to be a natural fit in almost any setting and a welcome addition to any decor. This bed is an excellent example of that.
But would you be surprised to know that the entire bed is built with poplar and plywood? It’s simply paint and stain that give this piece its well-heeled appearance. Even more surprising is that this is a platform in name and appearance, but not in actuality. It’s designed to accept a platform bed mattress by using slats |
for support. Or by omitting the slats, you can keep your conventional mattress and box spring.
Fortunately, the details and unique design of this bed don’t add any real complication to building it. In fact, you’ll probably be surprised by how simple the structure and techniques for this project really are.
